Type Locality and Naming

Along the village of Tepalik, Zirabulak-Ziaetdin Mountains. E.I. Barkovskaya et al., 1967f.; (460, p. 207).

Synonym: Tepalikskaya Suite, Тепаликская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Conglomerates, gravellites, sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites), clayey slates. Thickness 220-550m.

Lower contact

With angular unconformity, it overlies the Tymsay Fm

Upper contact

The upper boundary is unknown

Regional extent

Eastern part of the Zirabulak Mountains. The most complete section is there.

Fossils

Contains plant remains - Calamites sp., Artisia sp., Lepidodendron sp., Stigmaria sp., Sigillaria sp. (Heifetz et al., 1967f.; Barkovskaya et al., 1967f.).


Age 

Attributed to the middle-upper Carboniferous (460). In the monograph (165), the Tepalik Fm is attributed to the Visean-Serpukhovian stage of the lower Carboniferous.
